Dorm life can be incredibly fun, but is incredibly daunting, depending where you live. If you live in a very old room, you might be worried about getting mesothelioma or something from the asbestos you imagine lives in the walls.
If you don't have a good college fund backing you up, or you want to be thrifty, the older dorms are often a small choice. It's highly doubtful you'll ACTUALLY get some crazy disease like mesothelioma from anything in the walls. you might get meningitis, but that's why you get immunizations before freshman year!
The less flashy dorms are often the best choice, because they're simply cheaper, and you'll more than likely have an easier time getting into them.
But overall, a dorm room is what you make it. Sure, my room may be haunted by the ghost of some former student named Rodrigo, have 'DEATH HELP' carved in huge letters in the door and have strange happenings all the time, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun!
Ha yeah it's not so bad, you'll be fine.

ReplyDeleteDo people really get diseases from walls?
ReplyDeleteI haven't decided yet on taking a dorm versus just renting an apartment yet, i mean with a dorm it's great to be on campus, but apartments with a couple roomates could save a lot of money... Oh well, i have a year to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteGod I miss living in the dorm, I had so much fun.
ReplyDeleteOne day my brother went back to his dorm and his roommate was gone, without a trace. No clothes, posters, or even bed sheets, he had packed up and left. A few days later the administration told him his roommate got meningitis...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up.
Haha made me chuckle for some reason! :D
ReplyDeleteYeah my old dorm room was a biohazard. Fungus everywhere
ReplyDeleteFeel like all dorms have been renovated to remove these, probably a law in most states even.
ReplyDeleteWell I generally like to party with the ghosts haunting my dorm, as long as I don't get mesothelioma
ReplyDeleteI never lived in a dorm, but I always wanted to. I can imagine the wild things that happen there.
ReplyDeleteBut - very easy to get herpes in the dorms... true story (not mine!)
ReplyDeleteNice blog buddy, hope you will check out mine!
Followed.
Being a former R.A., I know we take all hauntings very seriously and do everything in our power to exercise all demons. As a former Ghost Buster I can tell you student dorm rooms have the highest haunt ratio than any other complex. Who you gonna call?
ReplyDeleteI got halitosis from sleeping in a dorm once
ReplyDeleteI caught some wicked things sleeping in a dorm, penicillin will fix 90% of what ails ya.
ReplyDeleteLol @ the above comment.
ReplyDeleteYeah, paying for more usually isn't worth it.
ReplyDeleteLol I highly doubt you're going to get any disease. If you do just sue the hell out of them
ReplyDeleteglad i dont live on campus then ! :O followed
ReplyDeleteI am worried that I will contract an airborne STD in my dorm room from the amount of JOing my asshole roommate does while I try to sleep. The room smells awful. Forget Meso....
ReplyDeleteIncurable disease from dorm room = $$$PAYDAY$$$
ReplyDeletejeez im glad i commute...
ReplyDeleteYou'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteI always found the inhabitants of dorm rooms were more of a worry than the room itself when it comes to disease...
ReplyDeleteI once got mesothelioma, so I punched it right out of me and into a bottle filled with Gatorade. Don't ask.
ReplyDeletedorm rooms...oh the memories
